Bracing for the Fallout

Ziva David travels miles and miles,
knowing her orders, to find and report,
leaving behind all she’s ever known,
happy for the chance to forget for awhile,

believing this to be easy, never expecting,
for them to infiltrate her heart, to grow on her,
until she doesn’t know she’d what to do without them,
her family of choice, the best choice she’s ever made,

this new world they’ve shown her,
so different than the one she knows,
makes it all so much harder to play this role,
for while her feelings are real, her actions are those of a puppet,

a double agent unsure of where she stands,
a death sentence for sure, banished back to her homeland,
back to her family of blood, her master’s clutches,
all because their leader is dead, someone came and tore them up,

he caused this separation, from those she loves,
a love that betrays both parties involved,
the thoughts she had imprisoned set free by her captor,
the plan now back in full force, once again to survive, she shuts off,

when they are put back together, she almost doesn’t feel guilty,
for this is not the same family she was forced away from,
yet, a small part never lets her forget, especially when he’s around,
she is tired of the lies, but she knows, that either way, when they come out,

it won’t be pretty, that the family she has prayed to forgive her.
Those whose opinion matter most to her, will never trust her again,
That he in particular will never believe she loves him,
As the moment of truth draws near, she braces herself for the fallout.
